This is my first time to write a yelp review but I feel very compelled after visiting this place. The people working here this morning were very rude. They do not take credit cards and this is not posted anywhere. So after waiting in line for 15 minutes I get to the front of the line only to be told very rudely that they don't take cards. So I had to get out of line to get cash at their ATM (which cost me $3). They also asked every person "do you need your change?" Basically begging for tips. I will not be returning to this place. The beignets are pretty good but the service just ruins it.

If you're just visiting you have to stop here!!!!! You can get it to go or eat it. I prefer to eat in. It's kind of divey but they have local art on the walls, great coffee, and the people are really nice and friendly. Not to mention during snow bird season there is great people watching! They are only open from 6-12ish so if you are a late sleeper set your alarm just once for some fried breakfast! I enjoy the plain just as much as vanilla custard filed with chocolate sauce on top!

A must stop on our annual family trip to Gulf Shores. The hot beignets are always consistently good and as good or better than NOLA, the coffee is hot, and Julia handles the service with a smile. Zero complaints and we recommend a stop when you're here. Worth your time! Ms. Julia and Boss Tom ROCK!

After a trip last month to NOLA, we have been craving some good beignets. Located on the side of strip mall, this place is nothing to talk about as far as appearance. Very plain and uninviting decor. Service was a bit odd and less than friendly, also the server sat at a table at the back of the restaurant. I assume it was the owner/cook who made the beignets, seemed to be a weird interaction between server and cook. Beingets actually were not too bad. Served in a cheap plastic basket, again just not a finished product I feel. Not sure how they can afford to stay open in the location, since it is not a restaurant you would want to relax and have a coffee and beignet. Maybe it is more of a carryout place. We left satisfied with our fried bread covered in powdered sugar. I could see going by for a carryout order on vacation. Take it back to the condo for an early breakfast snack before hitting the beach. It wouldn't take much to make the place more inviting. Oh and if you knock the place for having beignets only, what did you expect? Cafe Du Monde in NOLA is famous for doing just that. Proof that you can make a living doing one thing if you do it right! I believe it was cash only also, so be prepared. Oh and if you wondered here looking for a good beignet, try it, but also make it a point to hit Brick and Spoon. You can be the judge, but for me it was Brick and Spoon stuffed beignet all the way.

Betty wasn't there today which definitely made a difference. I now see why there are bad reviews. The daughter was very sweet but the mom was just flat out ugly til she overheard me and immediately changed her tone. I have never seen cutomers having to go get their own coffee. She even asked a customer "What do you want" not the best customer service. Wont go ahead when she is working!!!!!!!

Yum! The beignets were the best I've had outside of NOLA! Try the filled ones too .....they are very good! Service was good and everyone left happy!

The beignets are alright. However, the service is really bad. The woman running the register was very rude to several customers who came in. One man asked what kinds of stuffing were available for the beignets and she made fun of him because it was posted on the sign above her. She asks all customers if they want their change and in general seemed a bit pushy about tips. She watched several customers like a hawk as after the transaction to see if they put any money in her tip jar. This place also doesn't take credit cards. They provide an ATM owned by the establishment, but with an outrageous fee. This is a pure money grab. I would avoid this place.

Very dissapointing. The waitress (?) was sitting in a back table and yelled across the room as we walked in the door asking if we wanted a table. We declined due to how dirty and dingy the place felt. The lady at the register was very rude. She pressed for us to order immediately, not even allowing us time to read the menu. There were no other customers there. I love pastries so we ordered a dozen, half plain and half filled. We were overcharged for our order according to the menu, but not according to the gal taking our money. The beignets were extremely greasy and heavy. I had been looking forward to these since planning our trip. I was extremely dissapointed. Obviously we will not be returning.

Beignets are decent. Expected more of a cafe feel from the place but just a hole in the wall donut shop. Not the cleanest place in town. Get them to go and sit by the beach. Was looking forward to a good chicory coffee but when I saw the pots brewing away in the warmer in the back we passed on them. Service is less than desirable. Not very friendly, but sure happy to take your money and assume any change is a tip for themselves.

Best beignets outside of Nawlins!!! A good option for a quick breakfast on the way out of town. Carry out also available. Only negative is they take the "no outside drink" policy serious.

Coffee and beignets are decent. Place is dirty and staff is rude. They don't take debit cards and prefer to rip off customers with $3 ATM fee. When I asked why they don't take debit cards, I received a snide comment. I suppose this is a touchy subject, but if they've had so many customers ask...you'd think they would move into the current century for transactions. One male staffer was honest and said the owner makes a killing off the ATM. Really?? He'd rather rip off his customers to make money instead of providing a better product with pleasant customer service to encourage repeat business. Shaking my head...

Literally Beignets only! I'm usually not a negative nelly but this one takes it. They don't take credit cards. I needed this to be a headline because we tend to forget to look for the credit card stickers on their door. The rude and annoyed girl greeted us by asking, "What can i get for you?" and we replied, "A menu would be great." since we've never been to this establishment. She rolled her eyes and said, "We don't have menus. We just serve Beignets." The good news is they have stuffed Beignets and chocolate Beignets so they serve more than one kind. You at least have two choices. We were desperate to get some sort of breakfast since I think Orange Beach is a little bit lacking at times on places that serve breakfast. The Beignets were okay and you can't compare it to Cafe Du Monde of course. I don't think they care about the quality of service since they get a lot of tourists.

I'd list this as a nice start to the day. The four of us ordered the plain beignets for round one, and three vanilla filled, and three regulars for round two. I'm a fan of the regular, and when polled, the rest of the group also thought the regular ones were better. The folks were friendly. The place was simple, but we knew that going in. We liked the place.

I actually haven't eaten here, but we tried to. After trying to locate it on GPS, we finally called the place to find them. The man was extremely curt with me, strange but whatever. We literally pulled up less than five minutes later to discover the place was closed. Are you kidding!? I just talked to this guy and he didn't bother telling me they weren't even open! Unbelievable.

The beignets and coffee were awesome! This is a small no frills cafe that only serves plain and filled beignets, coffee, and a few assorted pastries. They only accept cash and their atmosphere is very plain and no fuss. Otherwise I would have given them 5 stars. I definitely recommend trying them out. GPS won't get you there though. They're in a strip center off the road behind Burger King and their shop is around the corner from Chocolate Corner.

Family stopped here while visiting Ft. Morgan. I was insulted on the first try and planned not to go back-- young girls working met us at the door at almost 11:30 and said "sorry, we are all out for today!" The sign on the window clearly stated they were open till "noonish" and 11:30 is not "noonish." They simply didn't want to whip up any more. Cafe Beignet owners: take note. Your girls nearly cost you a sale because I wasn't going back. However, husband convinced me otherwise and we went back the next day, which was also on our way out of town as our vacation had wound to an end. A more mature couple was working that day and they were quite sweet and friendly. They suggested that we start with the "plain" version and move on to the 'pudding-filled' ones afterward. The cafe is very basic and is cash only. Paper towel rolls are on each table. "Bill" started a batch of a dozen for my family of four while his wife made a cup of traditional chickory coffee for me. They instructed that beignets were to be enjoyed 'piping hot,' but demonstrated how to poke holes in them to help them cool. They were served covered in mounds of powdered sugar and with a crisp outer shell and a nice soft pillow texture inside. We not only scarfed down one dozen, we took a second dozen for the road. Take note, owners: Bill and his wife saved your reputation as far as I am concerned! It's been a long time since we've been to New Orleans, but these beignets were dee-licious and we plan to return on our next trip to the Gulf Shores region. Hopefully the girls will not be working there then.
